Portfolio Development Underwriter – (P/T, job-share or F/T)
In the role of the Portfolio Development Underwriter you will be working within underwriting authority and supporting the regional sales teams to lead the development of new portfolio opportunities across all lines, improving broker relationships, handling existing portfolios while taking into account the holistic broker relationship.

Co-ordinate the due diligence and underwriting approach across all lines of business and customer types and Zurich Propositions and Practices
Support the Regional Sales and Underwriting Teams to Produce, maintain and develop a robust Portfolio
Lead and Support the delivery of any existing deals to ensure that secured opportunities deliver the expected delivery committed by our Brokers٠ Report monthly on the performance of all deals allocated and implement remedial actions if they are not on plan
Play a leading role alongside the Regional Sales and Underwriting Teams with any identified tender responses
Lead our retention drive with existing deals, ensuring that regular performance management meetings take place to ensure all parties are agreed on any remedial action before the renewal of any Portfolio arrangement
Provide underwriting expertise and services to brokers ensuring that business objectives and company standards are met.
Implementing company underwriting policy whist meeting growth targets.
Underwrite, Negotiate and Secure business within authority limits, ensuring first class customer service at all times
Implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, procedures through effective audits.
Work with peer group to develop underwriting approach to portfolio transfers through best practice. Involved in effective training of junior and support underwriters
Direct reporting line to Commercial & Construction Practice Lead
Interaction with key partners across all segments/sectors of UKGI
- Directors, Head of Region, Sales
Internal department network required to enable liaison over specific projects or queries.
Intermediaries to provide first class customer service in delivery of individual offerings.
Your skills and experience:
Degree level or equivalent business underwriting experience
Deep understanding of underwriting and sales principles.
Able to understand, interpret and explain underwriting strategy across all lines of business in UKGI
Broad knowledge of the insurance industry and associated products expected at this level of the company’s structure
- Computer literate
Proactive in handling a varied workload
Is willing to spend majority of time externally with brokers securing new and retaining existing deals
Is able to work on their own, without the need for constant direction
- Highly Numerate.
Ability to network and influence others
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to interpret MI and financial data
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
