Job Description

Zurich Insurance Plc is looking for a Business Lines Team Coach to lead and continually develop the team delivering a superior service to Customers and Brokers.
The Business Lines Teams, based in Wexford, are responsible for meeting the Commercial Insurance needs of our customers through our broker and direct channel. The teams are responsible for underwriting our existing and new business book of Business Motor and AGRI business and the existing book of SME/Mid Market Business.
As a Business Lines Team Coach your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
- Maintain a collective focus on the achievement of financial and operational objectives & business plans
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the team, based on continuous improvement principles
- Provide active and hands-on participation in & management of renewals
- Actively monitor the portfolio and risk quality mix, with targeted actions to address or displace poorer performing risks
- Provide and deliver superior customer service as defined by agreed service standards and ensure that standard procedures are strictly adhered to
- People and performance management, while developing and sustaining a high performance culture
- Ensure that staff development needs are identified and talent is maximised, including increasing technical (e.g. underwriting authority levels) and non-technical skills across the team
- Provide regular and effective internal and external communication with a variety of stakeholders including executive & senior management and key customers
- Provide regular and timely management statistics and status updates in respect of performance against Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Be flexible to participate in ad hoc projects
- Deliver superior service in the management of renewals
- Manage key internal & external stakeholder relationships with (Brokers, Customers, Regional Sales Leads, Senior management)
- Deliver regular updates and support in relation to management of the portfolio
As a Business Lines Team Coach your skills and qualifications will include:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an insurance environment with supporting underwriting authority is required
- An industry recognised qualification or good progression towards same.
- Good knowledge of claims & underwriting practices and the accompanying legal environment.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Strong reporting skills and knowledge of Microsoft office
- Strong project management skills
- Good understanding or appreciation of process design and performance improvement concepts.
- People management / supervisory experience or the ability to demonstrate the aptitude to step into such a role
- Ability to work within a team environment – focused on the achievement of both individual and team goals
- Ability to build key relationships with partners & customers
- Strong leadership and delegation skills
- Ability to develop staff through coaching and training
- Strong interpersonal, organisational relationship building skills
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills

Primary work location is Wexford. Position is Wexford-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
