Job Title – Risk Engineering Team Leader (P/T, job-share or F/T)
Location: Home Based - South or Midlands Preferred
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Risk Engineering business as a Team Leader. The role of the Team Leader is to effectively manage a team of approximately ten Risk Engineers within a set territory to ensure the team delivers a high quality and cost effective service to customers. To coach their team so that they can reach their full potential, making sure the team is a great place to work by motivating, enthusing and nurturing.
In this home-worker role, the Team Leader is also responsible for partnering with the business to provide Thought Leadership and to support Risk Engineering’s Value Proposition.
This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.
Leadership of the team, creating strong engagement and a collaborative and supportive culture, whilst delivering a high quality service.

Co-ordinate and monitor team work activities and resources to achieve targets within agreed timescales and budgets.
Manage performance of team members with regular engagement, to comply with operational instructions and Zurich policies and procedures.
Create and enhance systems, processes and procedures to translate business plans into action and achieve maximum efficiency.
Lead technical and operational projects as required.
To develop and promote Risk Engineering’s Value Proposition to major customers.
To support proposition development for Risk Engineering and the wider business.
To ensure all staff conform to procedures and systems.
Prepare business plans and justifications for work activities in order to obtain the necessary resources.
Report on team performance to ensure management are informed of developments.
To manage work allocation within the team.Your skills and experience:
AIRM, FIRM, FCII or ACII or a degree in an appropriate subject (e.g. Fire Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering) plus NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma.
To be truly interested in people and able to relate to and communicate with a diverse team.
Extensive experience working in the Risk Management arena.
- London Market knowledge and experience required
Extensive technical knowledge of appropriate Risk management activities (e.g. fire, security, business interruption, extended perils, contingency planning and related risks, health, safety and liability best practice).
Has a knowledge of the commercial, industrial, retail and public services sectors, as appropriate.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation.
Thorough knowledge of Risk management products and procedures.
- Financial understanding and budgeting.
- Market competition awareness.
Good knowledge of Zurich HR policies and procedures, particularly with regard to grievances & capability.
- The ability to write highly technical reports.
- Excellent customer relationship skills.
- Interviewing and negotiating skills.
- The ability to make presentations.
- The ability to work alone and largely unsupervised.
The ability to discuss technical issues with experts
Ability to successfully liaise with senior managers throughout the organisation
