Configuration Specialist for Global Pricing Platform

Our opportunity

 

Business Technology Operations seeks a Configuration Specialist to manage the end-to-end development environments and infrastructure for a Guidewire based global, business critical application.

 

As part of the internal development team within the core GPP IT delivery team you will ensure the stability and availability of the GPP development and production environments alongside our IT hosting partner. You will be responsible for configuring the environments and APIM applications as well as liaising with our IT partner for GPP´s build and deploy process to ensure a smooth workflow and 99.9% up time of the application. These include, but are not limited to, vulnerability management, organising and managing product releases with the IT hosting partner, API management, lower environment configuration and ad-hoc requests from other internal IT teams.

 

You will be part of a large team of Project Managers, Business Analysts, developers, testers, and business stakeholders spread around the world who work to build, implement, operate, and maintain new underwriting pricing products across multiple Commercial Insurance lines of business so ensuring a stable environment is key.

 

Additionally, you will have the chance to work with developers to understand Guidewire software development and grow in this area over time.

 
Your role

 

As a Configuration Specialist your main responsibilities will involve

 

  • Ensure the stability and availability of the GPP development and production environments
  • Work with other internal Zurich technical teams to ensure GPP environments are meeting IT security and software standards
  • Responsible for any changes made to environment configurations
  • Work closely with the IT hosting partner to organise and manage higher environment deployments as well as coordinate ad-hoc tasks
  • Monitor the higher environments using corporate tools to ensure any issues are identified and resolution triggered
  • Ensure environments are up to date in terms of vulnerabilities and software versions
  • Manage any Service Now incident tickets related to GPP environments
  • Manage system outages and work to restore services with all necessary teams
  • Ensure close collaboration with other IT teams
  • Review environment documentation and keep up to date

 

Your Skills and Experience

 

As a Configuration Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Studies or similar  
  • CI/CD – Skills in continuous integration tools like Jenkins, Bamboo
  • Basic knowledge in application servers like Apache tomcat
  • Analytical thinking and quick to identify problems
  • Fast learning, self-motivated, proactive, and able to show initiative
  • Positive attitude with ability to adapt in a changing environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management experience
  • Experience with Service Now preferred
  • Any coding / Guidewire experience would be a benefit
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
