Data Visualization Lead


Our opportunity
We are seeking for a Data Visualization Lead to join the Enterprise Data Architecture & Analytics organization (EDAA) within Group Technology & Operations. In this role you will make complex data sets useful and meaningful by presenting key information in a variety of ways. You will lead programs by providing internal abstract data visualizations, data mapping, and data storytelling support. You will play a key role in representing the EDAA organization by creating highly appealing and intuitive visualization products exposed to both internal and, for specific use cases, to external commercial customers

Your role
As Lead of Data Visualization, your main responsibilities will involve:

  • With a highly motivated team you are capable to translate the company incl. Group Technology & Operations strategy into real data driven solutions, from design thinking, to proof of concepts / prototypes to final product as productive solutions
  • Driving the requirements engineering as part of the project proposal phase to provide the best solution for the business need leveraging a combination of the various Data Analytics technology stacks.
  • Managing a team of Data Visualization Developers covering the span of BI Tools including Design, Implementation, UX and UI 
  • Overseeing the projects resources managing the allocation of Data Visualization resources and working closely with multiple internal clients
  • Support a user centric methodology by implementing the Design Thinking approach for the development of your products.   
  • Maintain strategic relationships with the data visualization external partners and be the organization's voice for these tools. It requires a tight collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Platform Management, Service Management, Data Delivery and Purchasing. 
  • Advocate for BI Tools and contribute to define a stack of technologies to support the definition of corporate ready end to end solutions that could be industrialized using EDAA capabilities. Focus on integrating the diverse layers that conform vertical solutions (ETL, data modelling, analytics, visualization), adopting latest approved market trends (cloud, edge computing, IoT, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence). 
  • Support the creation and continuation of user communities for data visualization and propose re-usable assets (experience exchange, training) to improve the group dynamics.
  • Advise and support the translation of the business demand in data driven solutions that your lean execution-focused team develop rapidly.
  • Define the appropriate PoC build strategy vision in Visualization sub teams across analytics, design, architecture and build areas.


Your Skills and Experience
We are expecting a deep knowledge and experience in BI technologies, and a strong ability to understand and use tools, platforms, and analytical techniques applied efficiently to solve Business problems in a way to create a long-term impact within the organization.  Your skills and experience will ideally include:

  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and desire to get things done
  • Energized and highly self-motivated
  • 10+ years of relevant BI experience incl. Architecture, data integration, storage, insights
  • 1+ years in Financial Industry, preferably Insurance
  • Create solutions with visualization/prototyping tools (primarily with PowerBI, MicroStrategy, SAP Analytics Cloud, or as well Tableau, Spotfire, Qlik, open source tools, )
  • Demonstrated experience on analytics (modeling, prediction, segmentation).
  • Demonstrated experience on scripting languages (e.g. R, JS, D3, Python, C#, Javascript).
  • Demonstrated experience on agile delivery methods
  • Demonstrated experience on design thinking approach
  • Effective communication, presentation, and relationship management skills at different levels and in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a global organization, under high pressure and to manage ambiguity
  • Baccalaureate degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Certifications a plus (e.g. IBCS, TOGAF.PMI, Agile.)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Further languages preferred (German, French, Spanish)

Primary work location is Barcelona, with occasional travel (mostly within mainland Europe) depending on the nature and level of involvement in respective projects.
