Actuarial Analyst - Pricing (UK Mid-Market)

Location: We’re flexible! You’ll be joining our team based in Birmingham, so you’ll be required to be in our Birmingham office at least once per week.

If so, this could be your next role and we would love to hear from you! As a Pricing Analyst you will be joining our high performing Mid-Market Pricing team, to work on our industry-leading pricing models, build a variety of performance dashboards and help maintain our customer-oriented service.

What will you be doing? 

 

You will be working within the Mid-Market Lines Pricing team on Property, Motor, Casualty and Engineering lines of business. This role focuses on our Mid-Market business meaning that, in our opinion, it offers the best of both worlds – large volumes of data to get your teeth into along with the interesting technical and practical challenges that come with Commercial Lines pricing.

 

You’ll be responsible for:

 

  • Pricing tools - looking after and improving our current suite of pricing tools, working across various platforms and working closely with underwriters
  • Pricing analysis – working with our large & complex datasets to produce high-quality pricing analyses, supporting the development and implementation of model improvements and enrichment datasets to enhance the quality of our pricing.
  • Portfolio monitoring – developing and maintaining our data and portfolio monitoring dashboards which are used & trusted by a variety of stakeholders, and utilising these to forecast & communicate emerging performance and key portfolio trends
  • Process Improvement - developing and maintaining systems & processes through innovation, incorporating efficiencies and improvements as standard
  • Collaborating - building strong relationships across the company (claims, reserving, underwriting, finance), providing a first class service & trusted insights, and helping to foster a strong data-driven culture
  • Technical skills – the chance to learn and use SQL, R, Power BI & more
  • Professionalism - Demonstrating strong knowledge of relevant actuarial disciplines and standards, to ensure you are able to provide first class service to our stakeholders
  • Culture - contributing to a friendly, positive and supportive team environment
  • Coaching & mentoring – opportunities to help develop the technical and non-technical skills of more junior team members, with the possibility of line management in the future as you gain experience 

 

What are we looking for?

 

Required:

  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Excellent communication, teamworking, and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn and develop

Preferable:

  • Experience in an Actuarial role, preferably in General Insurance
  • Working towards Actuarial qualifications
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Power BI, SQL, R, or other coding languages
  • Good market, risk and business awareness
