Assistant Trading Underwriter (Part-Time, Job-Share, Full-Time)
Location: Birmingham or Bristol, Hybrid
The opportunity
We are seeking an individual to join our team of experienced Underwriters who is passionate about our customers. You will drive every decision and action with the goal of providing innovative and creative propositions that cater to our customer's needs. As an Assistant Trading Underwriter, you’ll be analysing and underwriting new and existing business. This means you’ll be in a Market facing role, so it’s important that you are great at communicating and building meaningful relationships with our distribution partners.
We’ll support and train you in all the technical aspects of the role and will make sure that you feel part of the team from day one.

Key responsibilities:
- Analyse and underwrite new and existing business.
- Provide innovative and creative propositions to suit customer needs.
- Exceed customer expectations by delivering the highest quality service.
- Communicate and build meaningful relationships with distribution partners.
- Take ownership of workload and support colleagues to deliver collective workload.
- Interact with brokers and intermediaries daily.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure profitable risks are taken in line with company strategy.
- Deliver quality and timely solutions for customers.
- Be a team player and contribute to a standout service experience.
Your skills and experience:
- Willingness to learn, develop, and be part of a team.
- Prior insurance experience is preferrable, and if you have underwriting experience, that's even better!
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions using data and judgment.
- Attention to detail and ability to challenge processes and decisions.
- Adaptability to different workloads and pressures.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
