New Business Property and Casualty Underwriter (Part-Time, Job-Share, Full-Time)

Location: Birmingham, Hybrid

Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits and career opportunities. 

The opportunity

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a New Business Property and Casualty Underwriter. As a key member of our underwriting department, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating risks associated with new business applications for property and casualty insurance.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.  

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyse new business applications for property and casualty insurance coverage.
• Assess risks and determine appropriate coverage and premium rates.
• Conduct thorough research and gather necessary information to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with other underwriters and insurance professionals to ensure accurate and consistent underwriting practices.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience as a property and casualty underwriter, preferably in a new business capacity.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex information.
• Proficient in using underwriting software and other relevant tools.
• Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and guidelines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional and strong work ethic.
