How you will make an impact

 

As the Head of Internal Audit in Mexico, you will lead a team of 5 professionals. The role will report to the Audit Committees and Group Audit’s LATAM Audit Leader.

As a senior leader in GA you will have real scope to shape the Audit team and will be key in implementing and driving our strategic priorities, co-create a leading audit function (including the use of Data Analytics and Agile methods) and role model changes. It will be in your hands to ensure that the team has the skills and seniority necessary to effectively deliver the audit plan. Importantly, you will be responsible for fostering a positive culture and driving an environment of continuous growth, where the team feels continuously connected to our purpose and becomes a recognised leader in the market.

You will be expected to use and co-develop leading audit practices to continuously improve the Mexico risk based dynamic audit plan and be accountable for the high-quality delivery of this plan. You will positively influence the business risk and control environment, through developing strong working relationships with the CEO, Executives and Senior Management. At the same time demonstrating independence of mind in providing constructive challenge. The need to build an open and constructive relationship with the relevant Regulators.

In this role, you will be also accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of audit engagements and collaborate with audit team members across Group Audit. With the support of your Audit Lead, you will be responsible for providing insights to stakeholders, leading the audit teams to bring audit outcomes of excellent quality. You will identify trends and themes patterns in results, develop audit reports and influence key stakeholders in broader actions. Your main responsibilities will involve:

 

  • You will drive the overall country risk assessment, determining the audit planning and the right audit scope, key risks to be addressed and most suitable audit techniques and approaches in collaboration with the Audit Lead.
  • You will keep the business safe by overseeing the execution of a portfolio of audit engagements end-to-end.
  • You contribute to create a collaborative and supportive team environment while overseeing the quality of outcomes.
  • You influence senior leaders in the Business Unit through strong relationships and insights and acting as a strategic partner for the Audit Lead.
  • You will identify themes and trends, systemic/emerging issues and sharing insights with senior management, as well as well as supporting reporting into Group and relevant local Boards and Audit Committees.

 

Your skills and experience

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field and experience in Audit, or alternatively Risk/ Compliance or Control processes.
  • Relevant experience at a senior level role in international financial services or insurance with a proven record of building relationships, working with and influencing executive/ senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the Mexico insurance market and regulatory landscape.
  • Extensive experience within complex, fast moving and international organizations.
  • Good understanding of the audit methodology required to deliver excellent audit outcomes and the skills and competencies needed to provide quality, impactful and insightful audit reports. This includes a good understanding of the power of data analytics.
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to organize teams, prioritize tasks, guide and coach the team to deliver on time to high quality standards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion and enthusiasm to continue to grow yourself and others around you.
  • Experience leading teams through change.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish language skills, while Portuguese is a plus.
