The opportunity

 

You will be responsible, together with the team, towards the local controlling for day to day and close related ledger tasks as well as preparing local, statutory and quarterly International Finance Reporting Standards ("IFRS"), Solvency II, IFRS 17 financial statements.

 

Working closely together with your colleagues you will build up further expertise and collaboration in the team and outside if vital. You will perform accounting day to day or ad hoc tasks including internal controls supporting the internal and external requirements and you will participate in local financial projects or lead small scale financial projects within the Business Unit. You contribute to the development of financial processes and support the implementation of systems and process improvement in order to improve efficiency and quality within Finance. You will also be supporting ongoing implementation of IFRS 17 in local business and any accompanying reporting requirements. In addition, you will have a customer mindset – looking to understand the needs of the team and our stakeholders and seek to develop solutions to ensure the team can deliver the required outcomes as efficiently as possible.

 

What will you be doing?

 

Your responsibilities are: 

 

  • Ensure quality assurance of the quarterly variance analysis supporting the Group International Finance Reporting Standards reporting
  • Commit for high-quality and timely preparation other standardized or ad hoc reports including commentaries in order to facilitate the decision-making process
  • Resolve operational day-to-day problems referred from other functions of the business, ensuring an efficient and high-quality service when providing procedural advice, information, producing basic reports or providing comments on them
  • Maintain and develop processes and desk top procedures
  • Balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Group internal control guidelines
  • Maintain the chart of accounts in line with International Finance Reporting Standards and local statutory requirements
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate finance business processes in collaboration with Controller in order to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Actively monitors the SOX internal control framework and ensures adequate performance of controls
  • Participate in local, regional and/or global projects or initiatives, actively evaluates impact on local reporting units, prepares and drives local implementation of changes
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations as a subject matter expert in a particular area of finance in order to solve business unit Finance related issues
  • Develop and deliver training to increase awareness within area of finance of existing or new policies and procedures to optimize performance and increase compliance within process area.
  • Support IT Expenses process and some other controlling activities.  

 

 What are we looking for?

 

  • At least Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting and 1 or more years of experience in related field being insurance;
  • Fluent in Dutch and professional level in English, this is key for the role;
  • Accounting knowledge and experience in SAP & FSCD, and bookings;
  • High level of computer literacy, esp. in MS Excel. Ideally a strong understanding of Power Query / Power Pivot / Power BI/ Power Automate / VBA – but certainly the desire to learn if any gaps in knowledge;
  • Persuasive, strong and confident communicator with a problem-solving focus;
  • Responsible, self-learning and self-independent;
  • Knowledge of SII, IFRS, IFRS 17, while local BE and Dutch GAAP is nice to have;
  • Insurance background, reinsurance a nice to have;
  • Capable to manager/meet deadlines (i.e. good time management);
  • Fast learner, goal oriented;
  • Capable to work both in team, and independently;
  • Ensure clear and transparent work overview to colleagues and team.
