Senior Underwriter, Surety - Netherlands
Zurich Commercial Insurance Benelux is part of the Zurich Group and is one of the most specialized insurance companies within non-life insurance for local and international business in the Benelux market. Within Commercial Insurance Zurich offers a broad range of local and international insurance solutions from medium local to large multinational companies. As part of the overall strategy ‘together for our customers’ we would like to expand our Surety team. Our Surety team is responsible for issuing bonds (bank guarantees) to mid/large corporate clients in many different sectors. Performing credit analysis and understanding the financial wellbeing of our clients is therefore critical to the success of our portfolio. Therefore knowledge of balance sheets, cash flows and financing are important. You will directly deal with CFO’s and/or other finance decision makers.

This hybrid role will based in our office in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Your role
As a senior underwriter surety your main responsibilities will involve:
- Organize, lead and participate in client meetings and networks
- Relationship management of current portfolio
- Acquisition of clients in Mid and Large Corporate segment
- Analysis of Surety exposures (including international programs)
- Independent review of corporate credit information: annual statements, interim reporting, budgets and credit lines; create risk assessments and annual reviews
- Processing of contractual documentation where applicable teaming up with banks or other insurers. Knowledge of LMA-documentation is an asset
- Issuance of guarantees
Your Skills and Experience
- Preferably master degree (Economics, Business Law) or equivalent by experience.
- Curiosity, entrepreneurial skills and ability to work in a small team
- Experience of at least 5 years as a Relationship Manager / Account manager Finance with a bank related to Credit and/or Surety experience with a corporate insurer doing business in Mid and Large Corporate segment
- A proven technical knowledge and good commercial and analytical skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English – spoken and written; (French is an asset)
- Affinity with IT systems and good knowledge of MS Office applications
