We are looking for someone with a strong Construction, Banking or Finance to take over a growing book of business. This role requires approximately 25% travel. Our ideal candidate will have a can-do positive attitude, strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, excellent time management skills, and the ability to further develop and sharpen their negotiation skills. We are also looking for someone with an exceptional market facing skillset to establish and cultivate relationships with Brokers.

 

Our Market Facing Construction Underwriter will be responsible for:

*Marketing Zurich's Construction products and services.
*Developing, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of Surety business by managing the selection/denial of new and/or renewal business
*Partnering with national and regional brokers to generate new business opportunities
*Developing solutions to achieve Zurich’s underwriting strategy, while addressing customer needs
*Representing Zurich at external company functions, industry conferences, and marketing meetings *Leading and participating on project and key initiative teams
*Working closely with other Zurich teams including risk management, operations, and finance

 

This role will be filled at either the II or III level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Qualifications

Construction Property Underwriter (Level II): 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR 
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    AND
  • Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

    Senior Construction Property Underwriter (Level III) 6T Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area
    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience working in a team environment

    Preferred Qualifications – Level II & Level III: 
  • Bachelors Degree 
  • Technical knowledge of commercial Construction Property Underwriting including Builder’s Risk
  • Established broker relationships (Retail, select brokers) in Western Region
  • Sales execution mindset
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
     

Applicable Only to Jobs to be Performed in Colorado Only
The salary range for the Construction Property Underwriter Level II: $81,000-$101,200. The salary range for the Construction Property Underwriter Level III is $103,400-$129200.  This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting.  Zurich NA may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.  This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
