Chief Risk Officer

We are looking for a Chief Risk Officer to join our team and play a key role in our Middle East Team. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Risk Management, this individual will act as the business partner to local ExCo members. He/she will also be the 2nd line of defence for local risk assessments, advisory and control of all material local risks, and for the local implementation of Group Risk Management frameworks. 

Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities

As a Chief Risk Officer, you will:

  • Act as the risk advisory to local business as required timely escalation of material local risk items to the Regional Head of Risk and the local CEO member of the local Executive Committee Leadership
  • Assisting the CEO in setting local risk appetite
  • Maintain a good and constructive relationship with the local regulators
  • Provide assurance to local regulators and monitoring against set risk appetite
  • Manage the implementation of Group Risk Management frameworks, including but not limited to Zurich Risk Policy (ZRP) adherence
  • Implementation of risk-relevant local regulatory requirements and on-going compliance
  • Regular local risk reporting to the local Risk & Control Committees, local Exco and - where relevant - local Boards and Board Risk Committees
  • Conduct risk assessment for material portfolios and projects regular, at least annual, risk assessment at BU level via Zurich's TRP framework


Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

  • Strong background and expertise in Risk Management, especially within the Insurance industry
  • Experience in risk advisory
  • Ability to interact with the C-Suite
  • Good understanding of the local regulatory environment 
  • Experience in the Commercial Insurance industry would be an added advantage
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong critical thinking skills
