Our Commercial Insurance, Middle East is looking for a Senior Risk Engineer with commercial property or high hazards industry background to join our team and play a key role in our Middle East Risk Engineering Team. This role will provide technical support to the Commercial Property Underwriting team and deliver a high quality and cost-effective services.

Job Accountabilities

As Senior Risk Engineer, your role will involve:


• Work to technical quality and professional standards.

• Assess the quality of complex risks according to appropriate standard(s) and assess loss potential in accordance with agreed definitions.

• Carry out risk engineering surveys and desktop reviews according to Zurich guidelines and best practices to support Commercial Property Underwriters in decision making with focus on commercial property risks and other industrial risks. 

• Support internal and external customers by identifying and reducing the risks individually, and on an overall account basis.

• Provide appropriate risk improvement advice, review loss investigations (including both trend and root cause analysis) and implement lessons learnt.

• Maintain risk engineering fees by providing good quality survey reports for external customers.

• Continuously develop business relationships to support the Risk Engineering and Underwriting business.

• Promote positive customer perception of Risk Engineering services in the Middle East.

• Provide technical trainings to Risk Engineering and Underwriting team.

• Develop technical materials / documents for technical staff and customers.

• Share technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers through training delivery or participation in relevant industry seminars.

• Grow and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships and collaborate with both to develop appropriate service plans.

• Compliance with Health and Safety policies.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical / electrical or equivalent or Master's degree in related field.
  • At least 5 or more years of experience in Commercial Property Risk Engineering. It is beneficial to have previous Industrial Experience (in Operation / Maintenance / Risk Management roles).
  • An additional qualification in Risk Management or Professional Certifications would be beneficial.
  • Member of Engineering Associations is preferable.
  • Be self-starter, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to individuals at all levels - from site technicians up to company CEOs.
  • Be familiar and have experience of working with international engineering standards and codes such as NFPA, BS, FM.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection and detection system. Having CFPS qualification is preferable.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within UAE and internationally.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Fluent with English and professional writing skills with proven ability to write detailed reports of a varied technical nature.
