Business Analyst SEAR - 12mth FTC



The Senior Executive Accountability Regime (SEAR) will put more emphasis on executives in Irish legal entities. This includes the clear definition and assignment of roles and responsibilities, taking reasonable steps to discharge of duties and enhanced fitness and probity requirements.
ZIP will prepare for the SEAR requirements as part of the Fusion program (aiming to improve ZIP’s governance). Zurich Insurance Plc is looking for a Business Analyst who will support the business in assessing, documenting, and implementing the required processes. In addition, you will seek for suitable IT solution to support these processes. You will work closely together with the Functions to define, assign, and document roles and responsibilities. 

Your Role

As a Business Analyst your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Support the assessment of the regulatory requirements and translate them into business processes
  • Review existing processes and perform gap assessments in close collaboration with the business
    the identification, assessment and implementation of tools
  • Adapts and applies different delivery methodologies including SCRUM, Waterfall and Zurich Lean determining the best methodology for the specific project.
  • Collaborates with program manager to build Business Case, including cost / benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope and development of a high level plan.
  • Produces requirement specifications and outline solution design documents throughout the project life cycle, incorporating change requests and finalization of requirements documentation.
  • Analyzes and manages requirement risk, trace ability matrix and prioritizes requirements.
  • Performs quality review checks on project deliverable's.
  • Participates in development of test plan, testing, implementation and training activities.
  • Participates in post implementation activities including problem solving and measurement of benefits achieved. In case expected benefits are not achieved, participates in the analysis to determine root cause.
  • Communicates effectively through different mediums at all levels.
  • Adequately document target processes and support the transition towards these
  • Prepare and provide training to the business
  • Define business requirements for potential IT solutions, support

Based on the need of the project, supports internal and external relationships with business partners and suppliers as required:

  • Project business analysts, project / program manager and business experts / stakeholders.



  • Outsourcing partners, suppliers and consultants.
  • Technology experts.
  • Zurich Project Management Framework (ZPMF), including all applicable components and supplements (e.g. Solution Delivery Life Cycle - for IT projects, Change Management, SCRUM).
  • Zurich Risk Policy, section 10.11Project Risk and its appendices.
  • Procurement policies.
  • IT Infrastructure Library service management - for IT projects and programs.


Business Accountabilities

  • Successful completion of business analysis of projects.
  • Selecting appropriate processes required to meet the project objectives by weighing different choices and determining the best fit.
  • Using a defined approach that can be adapted to meet project specific requirements and differing variables.
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate communication and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Complying with requirements to meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Balancing the competing constraints of business need, services, technology and quality to produce the specified product, service or result with minimal change requests required.
  • Promoting the Business Analyst profession in Zurich.

Your Skills and Experience

As a Business Analyst your skills and qualifications will include: 


  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) and 3 or more years of experience in related field


Additional Education / Experience

  • Required: 2 or more years  experience in a Business Analyst role, with a proven track record of delivery Preferred: Background in Financial Services
  • Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) or equivalent
  • ESI Associate´s Certificate in Business Analysis or equivalent
  • ZPMF Essentials certificate or equivalent
  • Zurich Lean Yellow Belt certificate or equivalent

Additional Information

Primary work location is IfSC. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
