Job Summary
The Zurich Technical Centre of Excellence EMEA (TCOE EMEA) has highly skilled professionals who are experts in their respective areas. The TCOE is looking for a qualified Capital Actuary to work in the TCOE Capital Actuarial team on the production and methodology of the Solvency II Internal Capital Model and other related actuarial and capital management processes, to enable ZIE to meet its requirements in these topics, including the internal governance rules, actuarial and accounting standards and regulatory expectations.
Your role
As Capital Actuary, your responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
General
- Perform complex capital and actuarial analyses as assigned with minimal direct supervision.
- Support in cross-functional tasks across Internal Model and other topics.
- Collaborate with individuals and teams across the TCOE, ZIE HO and Zurich Group as necessary.
- Effectively manage and develop relationships with senior colleagues within the company.
Capital
- Under general direction, support the ongoing requirements for defined risk types of the Solvency II Internal Model, ensuring compliance with internal governance rules and regulatory expectations.
- Manage the production and reporting of results for defined risk types of the Solvency II Internal Model, including reviewing results, providing briefings to management, preparing reporting templates and internal controls.
- Reconciliation of inputs, parameters, and outputs of the production runs for defined risk types of the Solvency II Internal Model.
- Perform first line validation work, support model change and independent validation activities.
- Support the annual model recalibration and parameter reviews.
- Review and update internal model methodology, expert judgements & limitations.
- Provide input and support to Solvency II compliance including the ORSA, AFR, RSR, SFCR, Profit and Loss Attribution report, QRTs and other relevant regulatory reporting.
- Further develop and enhance processes, methods, documentation, and technical tools.
- Contribute to actuarial and capital management tasks such as SCR scenarios, SCR monitoring, reinsurance renewals and portfolio transfers.
- Assist the Finance, Capital, Reinsurance, Risk and Investment teams on an ad-hoc basis
Your skills and experience
As Capital Actuary, your skills and qualifications will include:
- Qualified actuary with several years of actuarial experience, preferably in non-life, risk and capital modelling.
- Experience in multiple functions strongly preferred.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of actuarial professional guidance and relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, Solvency II capital models (Internal Model and/or Standard Formula) and Solvency II regulatory reporting; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry's trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of statistical and actuarial tools and techniques, ability to apply modelling processes and techniques to facilitate risk and capital management decisions.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience using risk modelling platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to use spreadsheet software.
- Knowledge of R or other programming languages is a plus.
- Professional & Communication skills
- Fluent English, both oral and written; German is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build strong working relations with colleagues of all levels and across locations.
- Able to meet deadlines, work under pressure and handle complexity.
- Competent at taking the initiative, prioritizing, resourcing, planning and project management.
- Ability to manage a diverse work portfolio.
- Professional, enthusiastic, positive attitude and flexibility to handle change.

Primary work location is in IFSC Dublin based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
