Head of Personal Property

 

Zurich Insurance Plc is looking for a Head of Personal Property to be responsible for leading the continued strong performance of our Personal Lines Property Portfolio.
You will have overall accountability for setting and executing the strategy for this portfolio in addition to playing a key role in the transformation of our Personal Lines Business.  

 

The Head of Personal Property is responsible for the end-to-end process to manage and analyse the performance of the Personal Property portfolio from market analysis, setting strategy and propositions through to the underwriting actions taken to determine what business we write and renew, and on what terms.

 

Evolving market conditions, new business objectives and current performance need to be continually reassessed with the aim to maximise the profit from the portfolio ensuring that we meet the targets set in the financial plan. The Head of Personal Property will work closely with other functions to drive performance and successful execution of the business plan. 
 

 

Your Role

 


As Head of Personal Property your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

 

•    Take a leading role in the development of business plans and pricing strategies and alignment of these with the overall GI and Group Strategy
•    Operationalize an underwriting business strategy through active engagement with internal and external stakeholders utilizing market and industry data to drive decision making
•     Contribute to the development of technical standards, controls and practices in the Personal Property product lines. 
•    Working with cross-functional resources, actively drive the implementation of Underwriting strategies (e.g. Pricing), propositions, and solutions (e.g. product development, underwriting tools and processes) for the Personal Property product lines.
•     Monitor underwriting strategy relating to performance metrics, data and insights. 
•    Operate in established Zurich Risk Policy, Global Underwriting Policy and underwriting governance policies, and operationalize the policies into guidelines and best practices. 
•    Lead initiatives that have a high impact on performance delivery in addition to the development of technical underwriting guidelines, and Best Practices, including controls and procedures.
•    Provision of technical underwriting expertise and guidance to Distribution, Business Units and Market Facing Underwriters in support of the achievement of business plans, the development of key customers, brokers and cases etc.
•    Ultimate responsibility to manage portfolio performance through a robust portfolio management framework
•    Identify and prioritize opportunities for development of new or enhanced propositions based on customer and distributor insights; lead the design and delivery of the risk coverage component of key propositions. 
•    Proactively contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer and distributor insights
•    Provision of guidance to all levels of staff and proactively supports development of self and others

 

Your Skills and Experience

 

As Head of Personal Property your skills and qualifications will include: 

 

Required


•    Advanced Bachelor’s degree, ACII, FCII, Chartered Insurer or equivalent other academic qualification.
•    Experience in performance management of delivering successful results 
•    Experience in portfolio management & executing underwriting and pricing action 
•    Typically at least 10 years of General Insurance experience,  
•    Extensive understanding of the personal property insurance market in Ireland

Additional Information

 

Work location is either Wexford or Ballsbridge, Dublin. Hybrid working and occasional travel within Ireland may be required.
