Manager Agency Department



Zurich Life Assurance is looking for a Manager, Agency Department to join their team. The ZLAP Agency Team is based in the Blackrock office and is primarily responsible for onboarding new brokers, monitoring existing brokers and payment of commission as per the individual terms of the policy in respect of our Irish, German and Italian business.Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Agency Manager will lead the team in delivering a high quality and effective service to our Broker community whilst ensuring adherence to ZLAP’s Internal Controls and all Legal and Audit requirements.The successful candidate will be confident managing different stakeholder relationships, have lots of energy and enthusiasm, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.

Your Role


As the Manager of the Agency Department your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Managing the Agency team in delivering a high quality and effective service to our Brokers.
  • Develop and coach staff members and maintain a positive team culture.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Design, recommend and implement changes to processes and systems to proactively drive increased automation of existing processes and provide greater business insight.
  • Maintain and develop existing control environment  to ensure new and existing risks are appropriately controlled and processes remain in compliance with all legal and audit requirements.
  • Develop and deliver management information reports.
  • Set and execute operational objectives and plans aligned to the strategy of the organization.
  • Manage and monitor changes in legal and regulatory activities, including regulatory compliance.


Additional Business Responsibilities:


  • Work with key stakeholders and colleagues across Finance and other functions (e.g. Operations, Sales,Chief Financial Officer) in order to support achievement and improvement of operational delivery and enhancement of customer service levels.
  • Identify and manage the implementation of improvement and change projects for Agency to deliver defined objectives.
  • Responsible for coordinating and communicating business issues to senior management.

Your Skills and Experience


As the Manager of the Agency Department your skills and qualifications will include:


Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 6 or more years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience of the Life Assurance industry.
  • Previous experience of managing a team with ability to develop a team through mentoring and training.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.


Non-Technical Competencies:

  • Ability to build and maintain positive team culture
  • Positive and flexible attitude to change
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Ability to think clearly and logically.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A history of building meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Information


Primary work location is Blackrock. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
