Zurich Dublin Technology Center is looking for a Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer
Your Role
The role of Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer is an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development position with the retained platform product team in our Data Centre Services family. In this role, you join a team of highly skilled Platform Engineers responsible for the end-to-end ownership and automated delivery of hybrid cloud services. You will be responsible for enabling and maximizing our ability to maintain stability, operational integrity, and adherence to relevant industry best practices. You will be provided with guidance and training to facilitate your development within this role.
To be successful in the role you will be highly reliable, motivated and an evangelist of new technologies and smarter ways of operating. You will have expertise in:
• Architecting VMware infrastructure and supporting platforms
• Deep design experience with VMware, ESXi and clustering, VMware DR solutions, modern CI storage technologies and vRealize Operations
• VMware on Hyperscaler/s and Cloud migration experience
• Strong scripting experience - Infrastructure as code experience in Terraform is preferred
• Pipeline CI/CD experience – preferably with Bamboo or similar.
• Confident working with REST and yaml constructs
• Proven experience implementing governance controls and secure solutions – MFA, secrets management, vSphere hardening and life cycle management
• Experience in capacity management and performance tuning
• Experience working with senior engineers, architects and multiple stakeholder groups
• Strong learning and teaching mindset
• Experienced in completing operational readiness requirements.
• Complex problem-solving skills
• Strong documentation skills
• Experience in operating model transformations is preferred
• Experience with AWS & Azure foundation services (landing zone) is preferred
• Configure, Maintain and be familiar with computer networks management systems and related computing environments, as well as software, hardware, and configurations.
Your Skills and Experience
As a Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer your skills and qualifications will include:
Required:
• 7+ years’ experience in Datacentre & Cloud Technologies
• Experience of managing private cloud technologies in a large-scale enterprise environment
• Relevant degree or diploma programme of study
• Experience of working with the latest automation
• Troubleshooting experience in virtual/ storage infrastructures
• Programming and automation skills such as Python, JSON, Ansible, Terraform or other programming experience
• Proven experience of working within supplier-led service delivery models
Technical Skills:
• An in-depth working knowledge of Datacentre technologies
• Must have Experience with Virtualisation / Hypervisors using VMware vSphere, vSAN, ESXi
• Experience with Hybrid HCI and CI Platforms
• Experience with SDS Systems and Physical Storage Systems
• Experience with Physical and Virtual Networking
• Possess familiarity with network management ISO or FCAPS (Fault, Capacity, Accounting, Performance and Security) concepts and tools including SNMP, Netflow, packet capture and analysis tools and methodologies
• Experience of Cross Platform and Hybrid Platform VM migrations
• L2 Switching Protocols and Concepts: Trunking, LACP, 802.1q, Pruning & Link Aggregation, Spanning Tree protocols, VLAN’s creation/deletion/trunking, Broadcast domains, Virtual Port Channels (vPC) & MEC
• L3 Routing Protocols and Concepts: SVI’s, IP Addressing & Routing Protocols: IP Addressing, DHCP, ARP, CIDR/VLSM, RIP/2, EIGRP, OSPF, eBGP/iBGP. VXLAN, Virtual Routing instances (VRF-lite/multi-VRF)
• Systems monitoring concepts and tools
• Load & Performance testing
• Quality management and process improvement
Additional Information
Primary work location is Trident House, Dublin. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
