The opportunity:

Are you experienced in handling motor claims? We’re recruiting for a Senior Claims Handlers to join our team in Glasgow. Our Claims function is the largest department in our UK General Insurance business and it’s critical in ensuring we provide our customers with an efficient, professional, and empathetic service.

  

As a Senior Claims Handler, you will provide outstanding levels of customer service, guidance and support for team members and demonstrate your drive and determination to go above and beyond for our customers every day & that supports the achievement of commercial claims department.

 

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. What will you be doing?

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Responsible for handling and negotiating claims above the value of £50,000
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Promote and proactively handling claims within authority limits ensuring settlement at an optimum level with consideration to business implications
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Provide input into performance management discussions of team members
  • Provide guidance and support for team members
  • Take action to manage own personal development and encourage others to do the same
  • Supervisory responsibilities including coaching & development of team
  • Assist claims Team manager in strategy and best possible customer outcomes
  • Assess and evaluate claims handling processes and systems to identify opportunities for improvements
  • Build relationships with customer relationship managers and broker community

 

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Previous motor claims handling experience from within an insurer, broker, or financial intuition environment
  • CII professional qualifications or Progression towards this will also be advantageous
  • You will deliver exceptional customer service to customers through strong communication relationship management and effective negotiation skills
  • Have a customer-centric mindset, thriving on getting the best outcomes for our policyholders
  • Ability to review, resolve and proactively finalise claims within authority limits
  • Experience of working within a team and managing with varying workloads and pressures
  • Should be well organised with strong attention to detail
  • Be team-oriented and able to meet goals and exceed expectations
  • Have exceptional active-listening skills: questioning, summarising, and reflecting with empathy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - coupled with a professional telephone manner
  • Take action to manage own personal development and encourage others to do the same
  • You’ll be the type of person who is happy to tackle any job no matter how big or small and you’ll take pride in your ability to learn new things
