Senior / Risk Engineer (Property / Fire & Natural Hazards Assessment)

Job Summary

  • Someone with prior industry experience and involvement in Insurance and Risk Management you will play a key role in delivering Risk Engineering services to our clients
  • As Risk Engineer you will act as a trusted adviser to our customers, to provide portfolio analysis and benchmarking, supporting them to identify and reduce loss exposures. You will deliver unique insights and value that influences the insurance buying decision at an executive level

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Assess the quality of complex risks
  • Provide comprehensive risk insights for multiple lines of business throughout the Asian market
  • Support our local underwriting business and customers
  • Support our international customers with travel into South China
  • Assess loss potentials in accordance with agreed definitions
  • Support external customers by identifying, assessing and reducing the risks that they face individually and on an overall account basis
  • Provide appropriate risk improvement advice and implement risk improvement programs
  • Provide effective advice on risk management issues to external customers and internal business partners
  • Conduct loss investigations, which include both trend and root cause analysis
  • Provide appropriate training for customers, underwriters and claims
  • Collaborate with customers and business partners to develop appropriate service plans
  • Manage existing relationships with customers and assist in the development for new opportunities and customers
  • Promote our Risk Engineering proposition (including risk engineering products and services) in the market

 

Job Qualifications

  • Relevant degree and/or related industry/insurance or technical certification in a specific field of expertise
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent (Preferred)
  • At least five years’ experience in the assessment of risk, including and not limited to property and liability
  • Experience in a risk engineering/management related activity such as Risk Engineering, Risk Consulting, or Loss Control roles (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection
  • Competent at fire assessment and natural perils with high levels of expertise in Natural Hazards assessment
  • Understanding of Risk assessment and hazard analysis across areas such as Fire Safety, Property, Natural Perils and OH&S
  • Ability to develop and grow business
  • Strong understanding and ability to implement sustainability strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrate language expertise relative to your customer base
  • Follow compliance guidelines as required by local, regional and global policies and procedures
  • Follow compliance and health & safety guidelines
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of English & Mandarin (both spoken and written); take active part in meetings, conduct negotiations and compose reports
  • Commerciality approach to the role and support of our commercial business in the market
