Summer Intern 2025 (Investment Management APAC)

The Program

APAC Investment management Summer Internship Program starts enrollment now.  It’s a full-time 8-week internship program (from Jul to Aug 2025) within the APAC Investment Management team of the Zurich Insurance Group.  It’s a great opportunity to learn the role of investment management within an insurance balance sheet.

Across the APAC region, the Investment Management team comprises 50 staff, across eight countries, with assets under management of US$13bil.  Investment management activity is predominantly outsourced to third party asset managers, whilst there is some in-house security selection (for Malaysia, India and Indonesia).

Our core responsibility is the management of balance sheet assets relative to the liabilities profile; minimizing interest rate volatility on a net asset-liability basis; and ensuring sufficient liquidity under adverse market scenarios to fulfil claim payout requirements.

Who are we looking for?

• Students heading into 3rd or final year undergraduate or Masters program with a solid academic achievement
• Major in Finance / Economics / Actuarial Science / Politics / Business / Environmental studies
• Strong analytical skills
• Effective verbal and written communication in English
• Track record of collaboration / team player and collegiate behaviors will be crucial
• An open mind and willingness to both learn, and to apply as “hands-on” in due course
• Eligible to work in Hong Kong

What will you do?

Key focus areas of learning will include the following, alongside topical content / issues relevant at the time of the program:

• ALM principles
• Asset allocation
• Interaction with external asset managers
• Governance and ALMIC framework
• Net investment income planning cycle
• Hong Kong / Singapore and regional specific work
• Key difference between Property & Casualty, Life and Unit Linked strategies from an investment management perspective
• Responsible investment and the role ESG / and Impact Investing has for balance sheet assets
• Interaction with Actuarial and Finance functions, and
• Engagement with Compliance, Risk and Audit divisions
