Underwriting Services Officer (General Insurance / Commercial)

Job Summary

  • Manage both pre-and post-bound activities for the assigned accounts, defined as standard/tacit renewals or with low complexity
  • Provide support to the underwriter in the areas of underwriting operations, procedures, policy endorsement and policy issuance
  • Interact on a daily basis with brokers and customers for their assigned accounts to assure that all aspects and deadlines of delivery are fulfilled
  • Manage and resolve issues related to policy issuance and is responsible for the follow up of premium payment, claims flow and cash collection

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Responsible for handling of corporate submissions and ad hoc operation supporting tasks
  • Participate in computing rates and premiums for policies, compiling appropriate declarations, coverage forms, national/local forms, and optional endorsements, to complete the assigned policies; reviewing risk in support of underwriting decisions
  • Prepare material for Underwriting decision
  • Support underwriters and relationship leaders in the negotiation of service level agreements with customers and brokers in non-standard renewal.
  • Interact on a daily basis with brokers and customers
  • Attend internal and external meetings and monitor the service relevant business decisions made at meetings to ensure each decisions are acted upon in accordance with the outcome of the meeting
  • Is able to handle the daily work and tasks of a domestic customer with low complexity/standard renewals with occasional support from a more senior colleague or underwriter
  • Follow up and manage on cash collection

 

Job Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma or above
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in General Insurance program
  • Previous working experience in underwriting an advantage
  • Capable of communication in English; both in writing and speaking
  • Good communication skill with quicker turnaround time and priority management skill
  • Open minded, ability to work with people from different backgrounds, countries and cultures
  • Eager to learn and discover new technical matters
  • Good knowledge in using various office computer software, MS Word, Excel, power point
  • Attention to detail (important for both for IT systems and policy documentation)
  • Ability to anticipate and to proactively look for the necessary information
  • Ability to deliver technical messages to colleagues located abroad
