Job purpose:

 

Join our dynamic Digital Finance and Data Management team as a Junior Data Engineer and play a key role in transforming our financial data landscape using cutting-edge technologies. This is an opportunity for Data Engineer with experience in cloud-based database design and transformation of data pipelines, using Python, SQL and Databricks technology. You will assist in the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of a complex finance data domain that manages analytics and reporting capabilities. You will support Data Management activities and cooperate with Group Finance teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to understand platform capabilities and how to best improve and expand those capabilities. 
  • Design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of complex data pipeline products which manage data driven insights and reporting and large-scale analytics applications. 
  • Support internal Data Management team and understand their unique needs and challenges. 
  • Bring excellence into current processes to optimise queries, data transformation or automation. 
  • Grasp new concepts quickly to keep up with fast-moving data engineering technology. 
  • Dedicate time to continuous learning to keep the team appraised of the latest developments in the space. 

 

Candidate’s profile:

  • 3+ years of Data Engineering experience including 2+ years designing and building Databricks data pipelines is required; Azure cloud is highly preferred. 
  • Experience with conceptual, logical and/or physical database designs is a plus. 
  • 2+ years of hands-on Python/Pyspark and/or PowerBI developer experience is required. 
  • 2+ years of SQL experience, specifically writing complex, highly optimized queries across large volumes of data are highly desired. 
  • Experience within financial industry is an asset.
  • Capability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Must be comfortable speaking English.

In March 2016 we established a Shared Service Centre in Kraków, in Poland to support our global strategy. It is from this location that we have created a global shared service platform, focusing on advanced business functions such as financial accounting and reporting, planning and performance management, ICFR testing, financial systems management as well as HR integrated talent management operations.

 

 

This role is related to the key area of Zurich’s activity in Kraków.
