Job Summary
Leads a team with overall responsibility for supporting the reserving, valuation, pricing or risk management process for the assigned business(es) and provides support and recommendations to the relevant actuarial business partners or risk officer, including insights into risks, underlying performance and implications for the business.
Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
- Lead team in providing professional support to relevant chief actuary and business partners including insights into underlying performance and business implications on topics with a moderate to high level of complexity. Individually responsible for analyses of complex portfolios.
- Conduct analyses and provide high quality advice to enable business critical decisions to be made related to activities outside of normal responsibilities.
- Make informed actuarial and business recommendations; effectively challenge and-or escalate issues within business decisions or processes that are unsupportable from an actuarial or business standpoint.
- Ensure that data, methodology and processes used in analyses are appropriate, working cross functionally to ensure required quality and granularity.
- Complete complex actuarial activities to develop risk based capital models and conduct calibration and parameterization activities.
- Improve processes and standards to increase consistency with internal actuarial policies and guidance, and regulatory compliance.
- Significant responsibility for the recruitment, training, mentoring and professional development of staff under supervision.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in actuarial roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
