Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating operational accounting clerks engaged in various operational accounting duties

Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities


• Manage a team of individual contributors performing an operational accounting function(s)
a. Management of staff performing daily tasks
b. Approves daily work transactions
c. Manages process/desktop procedure for functions managed
• Review/fix system errors
• Assist with testing of new programs when needed
• Assist with Sox testing and/or audit requests as needed
• Train other departments on Accounting processes as requested
• Act as liaison with other departments
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

Job Functions


• Provides operational accounting support for internal business groups and/or operations departments; reviews customer financials.
• Reviews taxes.
• Supports business group products.
• Oversees staff completing operational accounting tasks such as creating and clearing entries to accounts, balancing, reconciliation, researching and resolving discrepancies and maintaining operational accounting systems and records.
• Communicates/ensures that internal and external accounting principles and policies are adhered to.
• Answers inquiries and resolving routine/escalated problems identified by staff and/or other departments.
• Identifies and reports more complex problems to management.
• May prepare routine analyses or reports.
• May have indirect/direct interaction with customers, clients or vendors.

Business Accountabilities


• Provide technical guidance and work direction to team members and monitor their performance in order to ensure work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
• Lead short-term defined scope projects or support larger projects through planning and carrying out regular project quality reviews using standard methodologies in order to identify, assess and take action to mitigate risks to project success.
• Undertake investigations and inspections of financial data, processes and practices in accordance with established procedure and local & international standards to identify potential or actual compliance issues and recommend appropriate action.
• Independently collate and analyze data using pre-determined financial modeling and accounting tools, methods and formats and make recommendations in order to support the department's decision making process.
• Assess and evaluate financial business processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Plan and carry out regular reviews of customer service using standard methodologies in order to identify shortfalls and recommend actions to improve performance for external customers and recommend actions to improve the timeliness quality of data for internal customers.
• Review and interpret information from multiple financial data sources and advise internal clients of appropriate action to fulfill procedural, regulatory and local & global statutory requirements.
• Act as account manager and analyze account information to identify and reconcile discrepancies and/or complete research on financial data to be included in management reports.

Job Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting and 3 or more years of experience in the area

AND
• Two years of accounting experience, operational accounting experience, or a combination of both or three or more years of bookkeeping experience
Preferred:
• Attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
