Senior Automation Tester
SUMMARY:
Plan, prepare and execute tests on Zurich’s key business applications. Collaborate with other IT team members to ensure the development of high quality systems.
KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Mentoring from test lead and senior test analysts.
- Self manage own work, in collaboration with Quality Engineers, Delivery Managers and Product Owners
- Reporting on tasks and issues to various levels of the organisation
- Work with Technical Delivery Manager and business analysts to translate requirements into test plans and tasks for other IT team members.
- Detailed test planning, design and execution.
- Ensure secure application development lifecycle practises are followed
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Expert “hands-on” technical proficiency in the principles and practical application of automation testing, test frameworks, CI/CD, across a variety of tools.
- Selenium Playwright, Automation Framework, BDD
- Salesforce
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of role autonomy and “can do” attitude.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, Computing Science or Mathematics or another relevant technical field.
- 2–5 years’ experience in a senior automation test role.
- 7–8 years’ experience in Software Development. Experience working on large scale IT applications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to implement solutions according to formal development methodologies, for example Waterfall SDLC and Agile/Scrum
- Experience with Testing Tools such as UiPath, TOSCA, Jira, Selenium.
- Knowledge of Life Insurance systems highly regarded
- General IT systems knowledge – software development, networks, office applications
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Evaluate and recommend test automation technology selection and strategy (including framework selection and coding language).
- Design and implement automation frameworks, ensuring usability, effectiveness, efficiency and maintainability are met. Frameworks must support backend and UI components, with a particular emphasis on Accessibility.
- Set standards for writing test code and automation coding principles to be used across the team.
- Support in-Sprint delivery of automated tests meeting acceptance criteria and enable Definition of Done.
- Write tests and supporting automation code.
- Oversee the continual improvement of automation testing practices.
- Manage risks and issues related to the provision of automated tests.
- Support the Test Manager to grow the team of automation testers and breadth of coverage.
- Strong experience in automation framework development with features like unified Data, Storage & Config management, Hooks, I/O Handlers, Listeners, CD/CI integration and building reporting features using controllers/ Azure SQL/ Microservices to run analytics, produce dashboards and report metrics
- Experience in selection of new tools, techniques and methodologies needed to enhance productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with product teams to strategize & align long term solution for test automation including roadmap, tools, framework & approach.
- Experience in providing Quality Assurance (QA) for project & program test deliverables where applicable
- Lead in coordinating the test resources from IT areas to accomplish the test automation objectives at various stages of the software development life cycle, as applicable.
- Demonstrate strong people leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to develop and retain team members and contribute to the culture of IT
- Have experience in building high reliability operating culture and performance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate, influence and partner effectively with key stakeholders across the Zurich Australia and externally.
