Lead Platform Architect, ZCAM

136069

As Lead Platform Architect, you are responsible for the end to end Azure platform: from design and standards through to implementation, operations, and continuous improvement. You will set reference architectures, review solution designs, and ensure alignment with security, governance, and compliance requirements.

You will work closely with product, engineering, DevOps, and data teams to ensure the platform is robust, performant, and easy to consume. You will drive Infrastructure as Code, automation, and observability to reduce manual work and improve reliability.

Because the role is part of an international environment, you will work in English on a daily basis and collaborate with globally distributed stakeholders. Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, delivery oriented mindset are essential.

What you will do

  • Design, configure, and operate Microsoft Azure platform services across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security.
  • Define and maintain Azure platform standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
  • Review solution and infrastructure designs to ensure alignment with architecture, security, and governance principles.
  • Implement and manage Azure networking (VNets, subnetting, DNS, VPN/ExpressRoute, firewalls, load balancing, segmentation).
  • Support Azure Landing Zone and governance setup (management groups, policies, subscription strategy, tagging).
  • Establish baseline Azure Databricks environments (workspaces, networking, storage, identity, access control).
  • Manage identities and access using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and Privileged Identity Management.
  • Automate infrastructure deployments and operational tasks using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability patterns using Azure native services.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights) to support incident response.
  • Apply cloud security best practices, including Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, and policy driven controls.
  • Monitor and optimize platform performance and cost; provide recommendations for efficiency and FinOps practices.
  • Document environments, standards, architectural decisions, and runbooks to support consistent operations.
  • Collaborate on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement; support escalations and on call when needed.
  • Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

What you bring

  • Strong, hands on expertise in Microsoft Azure across infrastructure, networking, identity, monitoring, governance, and security.
  • Proven experience designing and operating enterprise scale Azure platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, routing, VPN, ExpressRoute, DNS, segmentation, perimeter security).
  • Practical experience with Azure Databricks (workspace deployment, networking, storage, identity, administration).
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture principles: high availability, resilience, scalability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, cloud native design.
  • Experience with Linux (and ideally Windows) workloads running in Azure.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI or similar).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or Bicep).
  • Familiarity with Azure governance (Management Groups, Azure Policy, RBAC, tagging, resource lifecycle).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
  • Good understanding of cloud security (Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, identity governance, policy driven controls).
