Senior Underwriter - A&H Corporate business (Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)

We are looking for an experienced London market facing Underwriter, to accelerate the growth momentum that our Accident & Health (A&H) business has gained and put their stamp on things, lead our market engagement with the large corporate and multinational account segments, service large brokers and manage the underwriting function of our corporate commercial business.

What will you be doing?

• Maintain strong and further build relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and brokers
• General underwriting and business development, including portfolio management and product proposition oversight with focus on corporate accounts and large multinationals
• Monitor underwriting performance of the Corporate portfolio, work with pricing and reserving actuarial teams to ensure performance meets profitability and growth targets, and as required adjust cover or rated to meet these.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Make distribution partners and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
• Lead the deal proposition works across technical pricing analysis, governance requirements and implementation project management
• Act as the subject matter expert in the team and assist in training and developing of others.
• Develop and lead marketing presentations to new and current agents/brokers
• Lead and direct negotiation of Terms & Conditions to close deals
• Initiate product development initiatives
• Contribute to the team strategy, operate team activities and execute teams initiatives, in the given market area, in the regional markets more broadly and for the A&H business overall

What are we looking for?

Ultimately, we’re looking for someone to join our team who has the drive to make our A&H Corporate business and team a success as we build for the future. In particular:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of A&H Underwriting, in the context of large corporate and multinational accounts
• Strong broker network, market knowledge, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local regulations, governance  and guidelines.
• Ability to effectively assess risk.
• Ability to function in a team environment, to influence peers and to lead more junior members
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
