At this point you might be asking yourself: Conxita, how will be my day to day wearing the blue sweater?  I asked that question too.

 

Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) was recently launched to support our commercial customers to enhance their Climate resilience in a rapidly changing world. We do this by offering risk prevention and mitigation services to proactively manage complex risks. One of these services is Zurich’s Climate and Sustainability Solutions (C&SS), provided by Zurich’s specialists to help both customers and our business partners analyse and understand natural hazards- and climate change-related physical and operational risks, with the goal of developing risk management response measures.

The Climate and Sustainability Solutions is a “vertical” within ZRS. You will support in achieving the financial targets of the C&SS vertical, working closely with other countries and the Global team, who is accountable for the overall financial targets.

Your core responsibility in this role is to deploy our proposition to your market, to achieve our vertical financial objectives, and support in the development of new products and services, based on market trends and regulatory demands, working closely with the specialists of the Global C&SS Team.

 

As the ZRS Country Climate Resilience Head your main responsibilities will involve:
 

  • Scope the market, and use relevant data, to identify, and acquire, potential customers.
  • Support the global C&SS team in development of new services, e.g. assessment of biodiversity risks, urban resilience assessments, nature-based solutions.
  • Identify market and regulatory trends related to climate risk and sustainability reporting 
  • Consult customers in analyzing and communicating natural hazards- and climate change-related physical and operational risks, as well as developing risk adaptation solutions
  • Develop and grow a local Climate Resilience team to meet market demand.
  • Contribute to events, technical committees, etc. to establish ZRS as a market leader in climate and sustainability solutions

 

How do you know you fit in? I’ll explain:

 

Don’t worry, we are not asking you to save the planet or meet 100% of the requirements.  

 

  • Have a business mind-set – with exceptional technical skills – to develop the business in the local market.
  • Master Degree in natural/environmental/atmospheric science, engineering or sustainability-related discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in a consultancy role (preferably outside the insurance sector). 
  • Extensive knowledge of sustainability and climate risk regulatory frameworks.
  • An understanding of climate change science and its practical application.
  • Experience in consulting services, or a commercial mindset with an ability to identify opportunities for providing services and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent project management, coordination and communication skills.
  • A team player.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English at a technical level with strong customer service orientation. Any other language is an asset
  • Good knowledge of practical engineering and organizational protection measures for natural hazards and Climate Resilience.
  • The ability to communicate complicated concepts in a clear and compelling manner to all levels of management and stakeholders of various levels of technical proficiency.
