Alternative Investments Operations Internship (Summer 2025)

Zurich Alternative Asset Management, LLC (ZAAM) is currently looking for an Alternative Investments Operations Intern to join the team in our New York City office in summer 2025. 

 

ZAAM, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group, was established in 2006 to manage hedge funds, private equity, and real estate investments for Zurich affiliates worldwide, with approximately USD 6 billion in assets under management.    

 

About the Role:

The Alternative Investments Operations Intern will contribute to the ongoing work of the hedge fund, private equity, real estate, and operations teams. The internship will approximately be three months, with the potential to extend through the school year and/or following summer.

 

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in alternative investments, cover various operational workflows and functions for all ZAAM asset classes, work alongside industry professionals, and develop valuable skills for a career in asset management.

 

You will gain exposure to and hands-on experience with:

  • High-level functional roles related to Asset Management processes and procedure
  • Industry-leading alternative asset systems, such as Yardi, Allocator, Burgiss, and Dynamo
  • Advanced data analysis tools and techniques
  • Excel proficiency through real-world applications
  • Effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Market and industry research methods
  • Analytical work

 

Other Development Opportunities:

  • Summer research project presentation to the ZAAM Group
  • Networking with professionals across multiple asset classes and building connections within the alternative investments space

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program and will be enrolled in the fall of 2025
  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior) 
  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. indefinitely

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum cumulative current grade point average of 3.0 (current could mean last semester GPA)
  • Strong academic performance, particularly from business, economics, or technical programs
  • Quantitative/Programming background
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience in a corporate setting

The hourly rate for this role ranges from $21.00 - $23.00. This is the rate Zurich NA in good faith believes is the rate of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting.  This rate is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs.
