Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager

Zurich North America is looking for a Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager (Level I or Level II) for our Corporate segment. This position reports to the Head of Corporate Accounts within the Professional Liability & Cyber Business Unit.

 

This is a critical leadership position, and we are looking for a leader that will manage a segment of the portfolio, execute strategy (growth), drive rate and retention along with cultivating broker/client relationships.

 

The Corporate Accounts team owns the growth and placement of the following lines of coverage for customers over $750M in revenue:
Cyber, Technology E&O, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Manufacturers E&O, and Employed Lawyers.

 

Responsibilities include:
 

  • Managing and leading a team of underwriting professional to execute on the growth strategy and opportunities that align with our Professional Liability and Cyber Growth Plans
  • Strategy execution in line with underwriting objectives to meet/exceed the financial plan with a focus on the management of rate, retention, new business production, and other KPI's pertinent to the Professional Liability & Cyber Business Unit.
  • Managing renewal book of business and fostering new strategic relationships
  • Develop, train, and coach a team of underwriters.
  • Internal (Claims, Actuary, Finance, etc.) and External (brokers and clients) stakeholder management.
  • Aiding or otherwise assisting Underwriters with transaction management, which involves the timely response for referrals and underwriting authority.
  • Managing relationships with key internal stakeholders in order to identify opportunities for service improvement to ensure commercial viability and customer satisfaction.
  • Participating and leading leadership team meetings to provide specialist guidance and enable the implementation of policies, projects and change initiatives.
  • Contributing to the business growth strategy to align underwriting strategy with wider business goals.
  • Overseeing development plans for underwriters to ensure the capability exists to drive business results.
  • Recommending and implementing action plans after reviewing broker partner books of business and profit/growth results and trends.

 

This role will be filled at as an Underwriting Manager I or Underwriting Manager II. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager II Requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing are with a focus on Cybersecurity, Finance, Management Consulting.
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area of Cybersecurity, Management Consulting.
    AND
  • 2 or more years of management experience

OR

 

Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager I requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing are with a focus on Cybersecurity, Finance, Management Consulting. High School
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area with focus on Cybersecurity, Finance, Management Consulting.
    OR
    Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of cyber and professional liability product lines.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Existing broker/partner relationships.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Results oriented.

 

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $240,000.00. The starting salary range for the Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager I is $130,000.00 - $195,000.00 and for the Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriting Manager II is $165,000.00 - $240,000.00.
