Business Systems Analyst (Level II or III)


Zurich is currently looking for three Business Systems Analysts to support Zurich's proprietary policy administration application on the Core Platforms Modernization team within Information Technology Services. These positions can be located in the Owings Mills, MD office or the headquarters location in Schaumburg, IL.


These individuals will work with the business team, technical underwriting and the application development team to create solutions on Zurich's proprietary policy administration application that meet the needs of our business partners. Responsibilities include eliciting requirements from the business teams and technical underwriting, creating system requirements for the development and test teams in a waterfall or hybrid system development environment and leading user acceptance testing. The ideal candidate will be an individual that is energetic and a skilled professional with knowledge of commercial insurance and application development that can work under minimal supervision in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.  


Other responsibilities may include:

  • Lead analysis of business requirements and translate them into system requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate and lead activities with product owners to gather requirements
  • Document detailed functional and non-functional requirements
  • Use requirements management tools and techniques such as Use Cases, Data Matrix, Process Flow Diagrams, JIRA, etc.
  • Support development, testing, implementation, and training activities
  • Understand and apply delivery approaches and perform, independently, business analysis processes in accordance with Zurich Project management framework and the Zurich risk policy
  • Provide subject matter expertise to others in the organization


Basic Qualifications:


Level 5T:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area


Level 6T:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong consultative experience preferred
  • Experience with collaborating across many teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in an analytical role on complex enterprise projects
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance business processes and processing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail orientated
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to tailor approach based on audience and message
  • Proficient in using computer based tools such as Microsoft Office and Teams
