Zurich Group and Cover-More Group have agreed to acquire AIG’s global personal travel insurance and assistance business (AIG Travel), including the well-known brand, Travel Guard®.

 

This acquisition strengthens Cover-More Group’s global footprint and positions us as a leading travel insurer in both the U.S. and globally. This strategic move aligns perfectly with ZGV’s mission to make insurance more accessible, relevant, and meaningful to our customers. By expanding our global travel business platform, we will significantly grow our customer base. We will also strengthen our global capability through AIG Travel's global IT platform, providing an opportunity for Cover-More to extend its award-winning travel assistance apps to a broader set of partners and customers.

 

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Reserving Actuary to lead US reserving for this business. The position will report to the Life and A&H Chief Actuary and our preference is the position be located in our Schaumburg Office.

 

To fulfill the objectives of the role the successful candidate will work collaboratively with actuarial business partners, including insights into risks, underlying performance and implications for the business. Assists in the training of less experienced personnel.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

RESERVING specific:

 

  • Under minimal supervision, support reserving, portfolio profitability management, reinsurance, or market-facing business units in complex environments and lines of business.
  • With appropriate review, coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including loss and premium projections, consultation on actuarial models, or capital modeling
  • Support Finance, market-facing business units, Claims, Risk, Capital Management, and other functions on reserving and strategic business decisions.
  • Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Ensure that the claims provisioning processes for assigned Business Unit(s) are appropriately governed in accordance with Group, Regional, and Local regulatory policies.
  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
  • Pass Applicable Actuarial Exams, a, as required
  • Regular Predictable Attendance

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
    OR
  • Bachelors Degree
    AND
  • 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
    OR
  • 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner
  • A working knowledge of IFRS 17
  • Experience with Travel and/or A&H type products
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
