Application Architect, Underwriting
Zurich North America is currently hiring for an Underwriting Application Architect to lead projects within Enterprise Underwriting Solutions. This person will report to a Technical Director and will work in a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Design, strategy, modernization, platform stability, and policy administration of an enterprise underwriting application.
- Day to day operational stability for .NET platform for administration of underwriting applications.
- Moving/migrating and modernizing applications to Azure hosted .NET application from Mainframe.
- Design, development in an scrum/agile background
- The Application Architect is the central point of coordination between offshore and onshore development and QA in a matrix environment.
- There is significant coordination with ZNA business and technology teams.
- Coordination of multiple projects and initiatives across North America.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the IT architecture area
OR - Zurich Cybersecurity Technician Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the IT Architecture area
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the IT Architecture area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced experience as an Architect, leading projects in a matrix environment.
- Project management experience in an agile/scrum environment.
- A deep understanding of software development, system architecture, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Extensive experience building solutions on a .Net and Azure platform.
- Application integration experience via services and APIs.
- Advanced experience coordinating multiple projects and multiple points of contact across different geographies.
- Experience managing resources across different geographies.
- Advanced experience with SDLC concepts.
- Experience transitioning legacy applications to cloud hosting is a plus.
- Insurance Industry Experience
- The ability to analyze complex problems and propose practical solutions.
- Knowledge of data security principles and best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, developers, and management.

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $108,200.00 - $177,100.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
