Business Systems Analyst Internship (Summer 2025)

Zurich North America is seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) Intern to join our team in Schaumburg, IL for summer 2025.

 

About the Role

 

This internship provides a hands-on learning experience in an Agile environment, allowing you to contribute to key initiatives while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle.

As a BSA Intern, you will work closely with application managers, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to enhance and develop new applications supporting our Claims business. You will gain insight into the commercial claims process, contribute to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and develop real-world business analysis skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the implementation and enhancements for 2025 claims applications
  • Collaborate with scrum teams to analyze business needs and translate them into functional and technical specifications
  • Work with application managers, architects, and senior business analysts to design and develop solutions
  • Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements while collaborating with stakeholders to refine user stories
  • Engage in data analysis, including data querying and understanding data flow across applications
  • Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gain experience in project discussions and reporting.
  • Support post-implementation activities by assisting in issue analysis, identifying root causes, and contributing to problem-solving efforts.

  • Agile & Scrum Methodologies – Gain hands-on experience working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams
  • Technical Implementation – Learn about modern software development practices and system integrations
  • Data Analysis & Querying – Understand how data is stored, retrieved, and analyzed to support business needs

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and will be enrolled in the 2025 fall semester
  • Completed at least two years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior)
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely  
     

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of data querying and data flow concepts
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a scrum environment  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00.
