Zurich’s Complete-a-Bachelor’s Apprenticeship is accepting applications for our January 2023 Cohort! 


Our innovative Complete-a-Bachelor’s Apprenticeship allows participants to simultaneously gain the education and the experience to launch a rewarding career in commercial insurance.


If you have two or more years of college coursework from an accredited U.S. college or university (an associate degree or rising junior) this is an exciting way to begin your career with a global industry leader and complete your degree tuition-free!


This two-year program combines coursework through University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC), an accredited online university affiliated with the University of Arizona, with relevant work experience and professional development at our office locations in Schaumburg, IL, Rocky Hill, CT and Omaha, NE. Use this link and follow the Apprenticeship Applicants prompt to begin the separate process of applying for admission to UAGC. 


Apprentices who successfully complete this two-year program will:

  • Work in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position at Zurich

  • Earn a tuition-free Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration

  • Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship

  • Be promoted into their next role at Zurich


Zurich North America is offering Complete-a-Bachelor’s Apprenticeship opportunities in Claims within our Auto, General Liability, Property, Recovery and Workers Compensation teams.


As an apprentice at Zurich, you will work and learn alongside professionals and mentors while performing assigned tasks, contributing to team projects and initiatives, and providing support to colleagues.   Your responsibilities may include:


  • Capture and update claims data/information in compliance with best practices for low complexity, low exposure personal or commercial line claims.

  • Determine liability by gathering relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence.

  • Confirm policy existence by identifying coverage on low complexity claims.

  • Work to have a timely resolution to claims by developing case strategy, developing a case evaluation, escalating issues as appropriate and providing status updates to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Establish timely reserves within authority limit by estimating value of claims.

  • Assess damages by calculating applicable damages or range of damages allowed by law.

  • Ensure customer service by proactively communicating information, responding to inquiries and following customer protocols.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration or rising Junior with two years of coursework in Business Administration and no prior years of experience in the Customer Service area. Contingent on admittance into University of Arizona Global Campus Bachelor of Business Administration program.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Analytical skills

  • Prioritization and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborating across work group

  • 2 or more years of work experience and/or leadership role in student activities or community service activities

  • Intermediate computer skills, especially Excel

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a changing environment

  • Problem solving skills
