*Data Engineer III

Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Data Engineer III to be responsible for leveraging the value of the data assets throughout the organization and assist in facilitating the development and implementation of the desired end-state data environment. Specific duties include: improve the organization’s decision-making capabilities by providing high quality and transparent data; work with large data sets and share ideas and knowledge of building programs and mappings; identify enhancement opportunities for new and reusable micro-services for the CDI pipelines; identify gaps in current audit, balancing, and control processes within the CDI pipeline and determine areas for enhancement; leverage Big Data technologies, advanced AI and ML tools in developing data solutions; pursue further automation of QA test processes to enable faster test turnaround times and high-quality results; develop enhanced processes that address schema changes in provisioned data sources; provide recommendations to core teams regarding design alignment to Big Data architecture standards and best practices; develop actionable plans for implementing cost controls, coordinating development work on enterprise projects with vendor teams, and coordinating deployment of CDI pipeline code changes; recognize opportunities to streamline and improve the processes; perform technical documentation, including detailed design documents, results of data analysis and profiling, and results of cluster configuration and/or runtime analysis; undertake investigations and inspections of Big Data operational and Dev/Ops processes, practices, and incidents to ensure alignment with compliance and security protocols; and identify potential compliance issues to established procedures and recommend appropriate action. Option to work remotely is available.

 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field of study, plus 7 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Associate, Associate-Projects, Sr. Associate-Projects, Manager -Delivery, or similar experience. Must have 3 years of Azure data lake operational data management experience. Specific experience must also include each of the following: working with P&C insurance domain data including policy administration and claims handling process; working with data ingestion and data curation in the P&C insurance domain and cloud based computer platforms including databricks and HDInsights; resolving issues in the Azure data lake platform from data ingestion till data enablement for user reporting;  designing and building Azure data pipelines through configuration driven development methods; and working with programming languages including Scala, Python, and Spark SQL.
