Innovation Specialist / Consultant - SIBD

Zurich North America is looking for an Innovation Professional to join our Strategy, Innovation, Business Development (SIBD) team based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.

 

This role will be filled at either the Specialist or Consultant level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

 

In this highly visible and challenging position you will work across the organization to solve critical business problems that will have a direct impact to Zurich’s short and long term strategies. In this position, you will play a key role in:

 

  • Support the development of corporate vision, strategies, and innovation for Zurich North American and designated business unit(s)
  • Develop market intelligence and conduct competitive landscape analyses, serving as an expert on market innovation and customer trends
  • Evaluating business opportunities and preparing business cases from strategic, operational, and financial perspectives, which will include building a robust pipeline of tangible innovation ideas to explore
  • Facilitate and support complex problem solving of the most important challenges facing Zurich North America, from idea inception to testing proof of concept. Role will also support appropriate change management practices are effectively utilized throughout the lifecycle to improve execution and delivery of results.
  • Developing written communications (e.g. PowerPoint and SOAPs) that convey analyses and insights in a cohesive story, adapting to meet stakeholder needs/expectations

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

Innovation Specialist:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Business Analysis area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Business Analysis area
    AND
  • Experience in insurance operations and regulatory environment

 

Innovation Consultant:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims, Consulting, Risk Engineering or Underwriting area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Claims, Consulting, Risk Engineering or Underwriting area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims, Consulting, Risk Engineering or Underwriting area
    AND
  • Experience in Organizational Effectiveness or Change Management
  • Experience in the application of existing and/or change management methodologies and tools
  • Project management experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • MBA or Master's Degree in an analytical field
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust message to varying levels of audience
  • Self-starter and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Works well managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Property & Casualty insurance or Financial Services experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, Excel, and database experience
