Power Automate Data Engineer

Zurich North America is currently looking for a Data Engineer Role to join our Data & Analytics Engineering team, ideally based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois but we are open to filling this role virtually. Zurich’s Data & Analytics Engineering Team is responsible for the building cloud native analytics ecosystem at scale, and machine learning operations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, develop, and deploy custom applications, workflows, and solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse to build business applications and automate processes using Power Apps.
  • Design and architect Power Platform solutions, including information architecture, security models, and data integration using Dataverse and other external data sources.
  • Write custom code, scripts, and workflows using languages such as Power Fx and JavaScript to extend Power Platform capabilities beyond out-of-the-box functionality.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and deliver training and documentation to promote user adoption and effective utilization of Power Platform solutions Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and system administrators, to deliver successful Power Platform projects.
  • Enforce security policies by means of client policy guidance and governance, ensuring solutions align with compliance and security requirements.
  • Provides integration support for cloud data platforms, and AI toolsets.
  • Demonstrated experience of turning business use cases and requirements into technical solutions.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data needs.
  • Experience with Azure Data Lake store, Blob Storage, VMs, Data Factory, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Databricks, etc.
  • Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks in Azure cloud platform.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics/statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area AND
  • 5 or more of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering
  • Experience in scripting languages
  • Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
  • Experience in data analysis, data profiling

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with Dev/Ops,Power Apps, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse
  • Experience using Cloud platforms/technologies (Azure ADF, Databricks, ADLS, PowerShell, cloud native databases)
  • Experience in scripting languages including Python, R, Java, Scala
  • Experience Big Data tools including with Hive, Spark SQL, Databricks, Delta Lake
  • Insurance Industry Experience (nice to have)
  • Good understanding of Azure Databricks platform and ability to build data analytics solutions to support the required performance & scale.
  • Good understanding and experience working on Datalake using Unity Catalog in Azure Databricks
