Senior Actuarial Analyst II, F&I Direct Market Pricing


Zurich North America Technical Underwriting is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst II to join our growing Finance & Insurance (F&I) Direct Markets Business unit.  This role can be based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, our lower Manhattan location in New York City, or our Overland Park, Kansas office.


The Finance & Insurance (F&I) products are primarily sold in automotive dealership to customers as part of the new car buying process.  F&I Products include:


  • Vehicle Services Contracts (VSC) which provides mechanical breakdown coverage, rental reimbursement, trip interruption, and emergency roadside assistance
  • Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) which provides coverage for the difference between the outstanding loan/lease balance and the actual cash value of the vehicle in the event of total loss or theft
  • Road Hazard, Tire, & Wheel coverage.


This Senior Actuarial Analyst II role supports the pricing of new and renewal business as well as the development of effective premium/rating structures and strategies in support of F&I business objectives.


The Senior Actuarial Analyst II is also responsible for the following:


  • Calculates profit margins on new and renewal business
  • Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analysis
  • Analyzes loss and expense reserves
  • Provides consultation on actuarial models and risk issues
  • Supports F&I Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on F&I pricing decisions
  • May oversee the work of less experienced actuaries.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
  • FCAS or equivalent international certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
  • ACAS or equivalent international certification.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • FCAS
  • Previous actuarial experience with F&I line of business
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or knowledge of statistical analysis software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences
  • Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects.
