Senior Actuarial Analyst

Zurich North America is currently looking for an Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Middle Market and E&S Reserving team. Our preference is for the position to be based in our Schaumburg, IL office, with consideration for individuals who may be based out of another Zurich North America office location.

 

Acts in an actuarial capacity while in pursuit of an actuarial qualification, performing duties which are of a mathematical and/ or financial nature, in order to provide highly accurate data analyses recommendations for use by Actuaries, typically in the evaluation of loss reserves or the pricing of business. Train less experienced personnel.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the USMM and E&S Business Unit in the following:

 

  • Accurate and timely reserve analyses and reporting
  • Analysis supporting expected loss ratios for discussion at Technical Virtuous Circle meetings
  • Monthly and quarterly financial close and ensure reserves are appropriately booked
  • Reserve study deep dives and ad hoc analysis
  • Ground-up and Top-down planning and forecasting of losses
  • Analysis and insights for BU Virtuous Circle and AvE meetings

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
    OR
  • Bachelors Degree
    AND
  • Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
    OR
  • Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • ACAS
  • Prior commercial lines reserving experience
  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly possessing the ability to share technical results and recommendations to audiences at varying levels of analytic understanding
  • Solid project management and organizational skills to work on multiple priorities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of statistical analysis software

 

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $80,100.00 - $131,200.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%
