*Senior Catastrophe Modeler
ZNA Services (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Senior Catastrophe Modeler to assess Catastrophe (CAT) exposure to the organization, improve modeling processes and deliver actionable insights to the business regarding natural and man-made catastrophes by using both internal and externally sourced CAT Modeling capabilities. Specific duties include: provide leadership in the development and application of catastrophe models completing assignments of the highest complexity; validate exposure data received from business segments and interpret best fit for catastrophe modelling; provide expert guidance to countries and business units to improve exposure data quality; conduct corrections in case of exposure data quality issues; calculate catastrophe exposure for all business segments and perils; responsible for maintenance and development of tools for the internal workflow; support countries in CAT Planning process; provide consolidated views for local regulatory authorities; provide training support for CAT Modelers and stakeholders; perform post CAT reviews; generate deep analytical insights to be shared with the CAT R&D team and Business Units; support projects for research, experience studies and other statistical analyses; track and understand shifts in CAT portfolios; assist in monitoring profitability and exposure growth, with the objective of providing guidance and deep insights; respond to requests from other functions; demonstrate proficient cat modeling experience and specialized knowledge about vendor models, and a comprehensive understanding of the vendor model landscape; apply special knowledge about specific hazard and LOBs; and support underwriters and account executives on pricing decisions. Position requires CPCU and ARe certifications. Option to work remotely.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Mathematics and Economics, or a closely related field of study, plus 6 years of experience in the job offered, or as Catastrophe Risk Analyst, AVP Catastrophe, or similar position. Must have 6 years of experience with each of the following: working with catastrophe modeling of large property portfolios using RMS products; manipulating large complex datasets using SQL; and working with data visualization and business intelligence. Specific experience must also include: calculating catastrophe exposure using RMS, AIR and KatRisk models; validating exposure data received and interpreting best fit for catastrophe modeling; providing expert guidance and equipping countries to improve exposure data quality; conducting corrections for exposure data quality issues with material impact on group level; supporting key aspects of portfolio management, including analysis, to monitor profitability and shifts in exposure data; estimating impact of reinsurance treaties; performing Catastrophe Underwriting and Catastrophe R&D; leading projects for research, experience studies and other statistical analyses to improve modeling accuracy; tracking shifts in catastrophe portfolios and reporting peril accumulations to senior management; developing and maintaining R Shiny web applications; and working with data scientists to design and implement data visualization and statistical analysis. Must have CPCU and ARe certifications. Option to work remotely.
