VP, Risk Engineering, Middle Market, ZRS
Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) is currently seeking a Vice President for the Middle Market segment within our ZRS division.
The Middle Market ZRS leader will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the Middle Market ZRS team. This includes leading field-based technical service teams that deliver a wide range of operational and strategic risk management services to our Commercial Insurance clients. The role oversees a multifunctional team of Middle Market engineers who support property and various casualty lines, such as workers' compensation, general liability, auto liability, and product liability.
We are looking for a leader with strong skills in building and leading fast growing teams, stakeholder management, consulting, negotiating, cross-selling, risk engineering, risk assessment, risk improvement and account management. This role will collaborate closely with the Middle Market Business Unit (BU), including Underwriting, Portfolio Management, and Technical Underwriting. Additionally, this role will work closely with ZRS stakeholders in the US and across the ZRS Global Network. The role will also engage with our external customers to support their risk mitigation efforts, including delivering customer-specific presentations and speaking at industry forums.
This position reports to the Head of ZRS and can be based in one of our Zurich offices, with travel expected.
Key Accountabilities
- Driving the strategy, reducing large losses, bringing innovation and delivering on our services
- Formulation and execution of strategy for cluster, aligned to functional and market facing drivers
- Leadership and development of employees
- Direct management of practice leaders and field based technical teams
- Development of detailed Risk Engineering utilization and deployment of strategies in conjunction with stakeholder representatives
- Execution of annual operational and financial plans
- Accountable for financial, capability and capacity planning
- Accountable for the on-going competency and technical delivery by cluster personnel in accordance with relevant standards
- Management of sub-contractor relationships and their performance
- Spokesperson for ZRS in country/territory in dealings with media and internally.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area
AND - People Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Risk Engineering methodologies and the insurance industry
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Property Engineering
- Middle Market experience
- Experience managing, leading and developing large teams and managers
- Strong delivery mind-set and adaptable to changing environment
- Progressive experience in leadership, organizational development, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Advanced skills and experience in all aspects of consulting, partnering with business leaders, market facing and relationship building
- Excellent organization skills, interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of management

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $197,800.00 - $324,000.00 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 35%.
