Job Title: Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting, Singapore

Location: Singapore

 

The Opportunity:

 

Function as the Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting for the Singapore P&C Business, reporting into the CFO, with responsibility for all local and group financial reporting, including managing the audit process, providing business insights to improve business performance, take part in BU wide projects and lead a team of 4.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Produce the Singapore statutory / regulatory / solvency reporting.
  • Produce Group Reporting results for the reporting units / legal entities on IFRS 17 and Swiss Regulatory/Statutory/Solvency basis.
  • Oversight of various tax deliverables related to corporate income tax filing, GST returns, withholding taxes, Transfer Pricing and Group Tax matters.
  • Manage annual external audit and work closely with auditors to ensure a smooth cooperation as well as leading and/or supporting business initiatives.
  • Review the accuracy of all Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss and Statistical items required by Group and in line with Group instructions, guidelines and policies.
  • Coordinate the month-end closing activities and proactively engage stakeholders across the business to ensure a high data quality.
  • Perform control activities in accordance with internal framework. Proactively search for internal control and operational improvements within the accounting team. 
  • Champion transformation projects for the FAR team. This includes transitioning existing reports to newly developed tools, leveraging existing tools in new ways, and proposing new capabilities as appropriate.
  • Providing financial support or advice on accounting principles, reinsurance, solvency, risk and capital management. 
  • Participation in and contribution to forward-looking projections of capital availability and solvency for management reporting and business decision-making purposes.
  • Leading a team of 4 people, with responsibility for all aspects of team management and professional development.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, finance or business preferred) and/or relevant professional qualifications in the field of accounting
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Financial Accounting and Reporting (Commercial Insurance and Reinsurance are beneficial)
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Strong know.ledge in General Insurance business and products
  • High analytical skills in financial analysis and business processes
  • Excellent computer technical skills including proficiency in Excel and SAP
  • Strong critical thinking abilities.
  • Primary work location is Singapore
