The Opportunity:

 

We’re operating in a quickly changing and increasingly complex world, where multiple stakeholders indicate a growing need for risk management support and advice. This creates additional opportunities for Zurich Resilience Solutions and requires us to quickly become a more consultancy-oriented organization.

 

Our newly created Casualty vertical complements our country structure and will enable us to be more agile in identifying and sharing opportunities and best practices globally. Reporting directly to Head of Risk Engineering Asia Pacific, the role will work closely with the countries to strengthen our focus

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Innovation: playing a pivotal role in creating and bringing state-of-the-art Casualty propositions to market, with innovative ways to serve the middle market. 
  • Talent Development: enhancing Risk Engineers’ professional development and skills for the future, as well as guiding a team of Principal and Senior Risk Engineers at our Technical Center. 
  • Strategy & Collaboration: defining the Casualty strategy and working with ZRS Country Heads, CI and functions, other Country, Regional, Global Vertical Leaders and Group stakeholders to deliver on that strategy
  • Sales Excellence: sharing best sales practices around casualty across countries and designing and maintaining a curriculum of learning resources for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Brand awareness: raising ZRS’s profile through thought leadership as well as targeted external publications and events in the Casualty area
  • Technical Governance: overseeing the delivery and quality of services to our Underwriting business partners and external customers, with maintenance and development of our technical standards.
  • Financial Delivery: the Head Casualty Vertical will be accountable for the delivery of the financial targets for this vertical.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

 

  • Tertiary (Diploma/Bachelor) qualification in Safety related areas, and/or risk management, and/or Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Casualty Risk Engineer
  • People management and business development experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Casualty risk assessment and risk improvement techniques
  • An understanding of relevant exposures to casualty underwriting
  • Experience at developing and enhancing value propositions relating to Casualty risk engineering      
  • Strong business acumen; financial planning; expense management and P&L (Profit & Loss) account management
  • Superior communication skills, and an ability to articulate the benefits of risk management to reduce Casualty-related exposures.
  • An ability to develop risk management consultancy services, fee-based for a wide range of customers across a broad industry spectrum
  • Strong inter-personal skills and people management capabilities
  • Work within a team of experts, able to negotiate and influence collaboration and teamwork.
