Job Title: Senior Risk Engineer / Risk Engineer, Downstream Energy

Location : Singapore

 

The Opportunity:

 

Provides risk assessment and risk improvement services for customers and business partners in specific or multiple lines of business. Acts as a recognized expert with an enhanced level of expertise in respect of a specific line of business or significant risk area. The candidate must have experience in Oil Gas and Petrochemicals. Additionally, experience in LNG / Sustainable Fuel production will be added advantage.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assess the quality of complex risks as described in the appropriate standard(s) and related competency level, and assess loss potentials in accordance with agreed definitions.
  • Support external customers by identifying, and reducing the risks that they face individually, and on an overall account basis.
  • Provide appropriate risk improvement advice, conduct loss investigations (including both trend and root cause analysis), and implement risk improvement programs.
  • Share technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers through training delivery or participation in a Centre of Expertise or industry segment.
  • Produce work that complies with Company standards, in terms of technical quality of policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate, recognize and respond to the needs of customers by providing expert solutions and training to key customer(s), and contribute to Business Operation Profit through opportunity spotting.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships, and collaborate with both customers and Business partners to develop appropriate service plans.
  • Resolve technical issues, problems and projects in reference to policies and procedures within a specific function or unit.
  • Utilize established financial systems to assess loss potential in order to manage and control exposure to the organization.
  • Develop a simple business case for a defined project to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships, and collaborate with both customers and business partners to develop appropriate service plans.
  • Prepare draft manuals based on the accepted changes to policies and procedures, to ensure they are up to date and reflect new policies.
  • Research primary data sources, select relevant information related to ordinary types of risks and make appropriate recommendations to external customers.
  • Act as technical expert supporting external customers by identifying, assessing and reducing the risk they face in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of customer services.
  • Maintain oversight of service delivery to the customer to ensure service expectations are fulfilled, reinforcing customer focus across the team.
  • Provide specialist risk improvement advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and deliver appropriate risk improvement programs, in line with the organization´s policies and processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the Business Operating Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling.
  • Anticipate, recognize and respond to the needs of customers by providing expert solutions and training to key customer(s) and contribute to Business Operation Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in OGP - chemical process, troubleshooting and optimization or Loss control / Risk Engineering experience within Insurance industry
  • Good understanding and able to perform HAZOP Risk Assessment reviews and OGP safety management program
  • Strong consultation skills to identify and implement risk reduction strategies with customers
  • Functioned as safety leader and promote safety learning and training.
  • Familiarity of industry codes and standards such as API, NFPA, ISO, ASME & SS 506 - Singapore Standard Occupational Safety & Health (OSH)
  • Perform as investigator / senior investigator towards incident investigations and reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and consultative skills
  • Proficient computer and software skills
  • Able to conduct presentations with large and small groups of all business level
  • Experience in LNG plants & facility will be an added advantage
  • Sells mindsets with a proven ability to obtain fee for service is a plus
