Digital Transformation Architect (Part-Time, Job-Share, Full-Time)

Location: UK (Swindon), Spain (Barcelona) or Ireland (Dublin). Occasional international travel may be required to fulfil this role.  The majority will be hybrid/remote.

What will you be doing? 

• Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with a team of architects to influence IT architecture across Zurich, focusing on Global Digital Platforms (GDP).
• Solution Architect Role: Operate as a solution architect within projects, while also thinking across programs to deliver architecture assets and integration patterns.
• Technical Leadership: Provide insights on the impact and adoption of architectures, helping teams navigate technical challenges and accelerate delivery.
• Communication & Alignment: Lead architecture for specific projects and influence key stakeholders including IT, business, and senior executives.
• Hands-On Development: Work directly with development teams to implement programs according to the architecture using various techniques such as ASDs, prototyping, and deep dives.
• Establish Best Practices: Develop patterns and best practices to support programs and mature Zurich’s digital architecture through delivery.
• Evangelise Architecture: Promote architecture patterns and technologies to the Zurich group, including other Group/BU architects and developers.

What are we looking for?

What You’ll Need:

• Professional Experience: Experience, preferably in large corporates with an agile/start-up mindset.
• Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in full stack development, cloud architecture (Azure, AWS), application architecture, and working in a global organisation.
• Industry Knowledge: Relevant insurance industry experience (P&C, Life) and up-to-date knowledge of IT trends.
• Communication Skills: Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across cultures and geographies.
• Stakeholder Management: Proven influencing and delivery skills, with the ability to manage external suppliers and consultants.

Technical Skills:

• Full Stack Development: Front-end focus.
• Cloud Architecture: Experience with Azure and AWS.
• Application Architecture: Proven track record in various technologies, systems, projects, products, and vendors.
• API Design & Standards: RAML/OAS knowledge.
• Management Platforms: Experience with Azure and MuleSoft.
• Agile/DevOps: Familiarity with ADO, Jira, Safe, and program delivery.
• Communication: Ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
