Location: Swindon/Fareham with hybrid working


The opportunity: 


The UK DevOps team is part of the UK Operations and IT function which drives technology delivery and change across the UK business.  The DevOps team currently consists of a Mendix Low-code and a Salesforce development and operations capability; a MuleSoft API team and SmartComms digital content team is also being established.  The DevOps team has fully embraced new ways of working including Agile, DevOps practices, API-led development, cloud-first, and CI/CD.


You will work as part of the DevOps Salesforce team responsible for the development and delivery of complex and integrated Salesforce solutions across the UK business.  You will report to the Salesforce team Lead.


Zurich Insurance UK is expanding its DevOps team to meet the increasing demand for digital transformation, API-led application development, Agile delivery, DevOps practices and innovation.  The DevOps team is helping the business transform by improving efficiency and by putting the customer at the heart of everything we do via our digital transformation work.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the DevOps Salesforce team as a Salesforce Delivery Manager.  You will work in an Agile way alongside the Salesforce Operations Manager, Salesforce Technical Lead, Solution Architects, MuleSoft team, SmartComms team, and the wider Salesforce team to develop and deploy large-scale enterprise solutions, all while learning and growing your skillset.

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Lead the delivery of Salesforce development workstreams across the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, build and document new solutions, with a focus on re-use and ease of adoption.
  • Resource projects and workstreams using internal and external (delivery partner) resources.
  • Line manage direct reports within the Salesforce team.
  • With Salesforce colleagues estimate and schedule Salesforce development and bring it together into a coherent delivery pipeline.
  • Completed agreed on work within estimates and communicate status and issues promptly.
  • Manage a project ‘front door’ process, guiding the business through the task of articulate a business problem, and working with the Salesforce Leads to determine a solution estimate.
  • Managing supplier relationships, e.g. systems Integrators, vendors etc.
  • Regularly engage and communicate with Zurich delivery teams to ensure projects and workstreams are progressing as planned.
  • Contribute to sprint planning and provide feedback to retrospectives.
  • Work with the Salesforce Leads to identify strategic opportunities to grow the Salesforce function and execute those opportunities.
  • Ensure that Zurich's development, data protection, architectural, regulatory, and internal control standards are adhered to.
  • Contribute to the definition of new vendor services in close collaboration with Sourcing Management.
  • Explain technical issues to project managers, developers, team leads, architects and business analysts in an easy to understand manner, and recommend thought out solutions.


Your skills and experience:

  • Experience in delivering Salesforce solutions and workstreams in complex technical environments.
  • Experience with the Agile project management methodology.
  • Certified Salesforce Administrator.
  • Certified Salesforce Platform App Developer.
  • Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud and Sales Cloud.
  • Experience with Salesforce development including Apex, Integrations, Flows, Platform Events etc.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle and best practices, e.g. design patterns and modular programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy managing diverse teams.



  • Financial Services Experience
  • Certified Service Cloud Consultant
  • Certified Sales Cloud Consultant
  • Salesforce Industries experience (Vlocity)
  • Knowledge of the MuleSoft Anypoint platform or alternative API platform
