Zurich North America is hiring a highly skilled Workers Compensation Team Manager to join our Southwest Region team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to support a dynamic group within one of the world's leading global insurance companies.

 

This position offers flexibility as a hybrid role in our Las Vegas, NV, or Woodland Hills, CA offices, or as a fully remote opportunity for candidates based in California. We are seeking candidates with expertise in managing Workers' Compensation claims in Nevada, California, and Arizona.

 

Position Overview:

 

As the Workers' Compensation Team Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the AVP and Team Managers by overseeing various operational activities. In this role, you will lead and guide a team of skilled Claims Professionals handling high-exposure claims within commercial property/casualty lines of business. You will be responsible for coordinating team workflows, managing performance, and fostering the development and coaching of staff to enhance their contributions, drive employee growth, and implement operational improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • You will drive superior claims results across all levels of complexity and exposure in personal and commercial property/casualty claims by providing technical guidance, tracking key metrics, and ensuring efficient claims management. Achieving customer satisfaction is a priority, which involves building strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and brokers, while addressing any quality and service issues. You will promote best practices by conducting claims file reviews, analyzing trends, and recommending improvements.
  • Managing corporate expenses will be part of your role, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and other expenditures. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal control requirements while providing valuable claims insights to support product development, customer/broker stewardship, and prospect meetings.
  • As a leader, you will motivate and manage a high-performance team by recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top talent, while also overseeing performance management through feedback and employee development aligned with company policies. Transparent communication is essential, so you will facilitate this through regular meetings and appropriate digital channels.
  • You will also help shape a positive workplace culture consistent with Zurich’s mission, vision, and core values, protect Zurich’s reputation by maintaining confidentiality, and stay current on industry knowledge through professional development. Finally, you will contribute to team success by achieving results and participating in relevant projects as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in claims and/or litigation management
    OR
  • Juris Doctor with 2+ years of experience in claims and/or litigation management
    OR
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience in claims and/or litigation management
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience collaborating across work groups
  • Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
  • Travel 0-20%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage team performance effectively.
  • 8+ years of experience in handling Workers Compensation Claims.
  • 8+ years of experience in litigation management.
  • Jurisdictional expertise and experience working in the states of NV, CA and AZ
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and able to build effective cross-functional relationships.
  • Proactive in sharing insights and fostering a knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Skilled in gathering and applying insights from various teams to improve outcomes.
  • Proficiency in understanding and applying complex insurance policies in claims management.
  • Experience with reserving processes for indemnity and expense, particularly for complex claims.
  • Expertise in communicating coverage determinations and directing counsel on litigation and settlement strategies.
  • Ability to analyze and explain complex financial or actuarial trends.

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
